Madeth gray’ll is a legendary Japanese visual-kei rock band that was formed in August, 1997 by vocalist Hisui (翡翠) and guitarist Shizuru (静流), and disbanded in January, 2001.

Even though they weren’t active for long, and had a complicated history with many member changes, they were incredibly influential on almost all visual-kei to follow.

If you try to define kote-kei, a subgenre of visual-kei, Madeth gray’ll is one of the first names that comes to mind. They embody the genre.
