Hello! My name is Adriël Cantamessi, but I’m also known as Cantavanda. I’m a Belgian singer-songwriter and composer. I was born in 1999 in Spain to two professional musicians, and was raised in a rich musical environment that shaped my artistic path from the very beginning. I’ll be forever grateful towards my parents for always supporting my musical growth.
I was taught music from a very early age as my mom gave me solfege and piano lessons when I was 3 years old. But I have been formally trained in guitar since the age of 5, and I later restarted playing piano at age 13. When I was 12, I discovered the Japanese genre Visual-Kei, which would inspire the creation of my own style: visual multipop, a hybrid genre combining accessible pop structures with eclectic, often contrasting musical influences, and a strong emphasis on storytelling and visual aestheticism.
I studied classical piano at MUDA Kunstsecundair, a renowned high school for the arts, and in 2017 I began a degree in classical composition at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. There, I developed my voice as a composer, culminating in two sold-out concerts in June 2024 at Opera Ghent, where my Operette No. 3 and Piano Concerto No. 2 were premiered. The recordings of those performances were released in January 2025.
Alongside my classical work, I have been working on identity as a visual multipop singer-songwriter. My first single, ‘solitude’, released in 2022. Shortly after, in 2023 and 2024, I released several more singles and my first single collection, ‘Romancia’, which was warmly received.
In June 2025, I released the acoustic live session ‘L’histoire en fleurs…’, which focused more on an intimate live setting. In February of 2026, I released the single ‘Sleep Tight’ which leaned more towards folk-pop music.
Currently, I’m recording my debut full-length album, set for release somewhere in 2027. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
