白蝶 (Hakuchou) – Single

General Information:

Single containing two tracks released on Third Stage’s [kapparecords].

Third Stage was a second-hand music store which as very closely connected to LAREINE, as KAMIJO worked there for a while. This is where he met HIZAKI, whom he would later form the world-famous band “Versailles” with. Third Stage had its own record label, [kapparecords].

The main attraction of this single is the song “白蝶” (Hakuchou), which is unique to this audio release, but who was also used as the background BGM on the DVD “Making of Never Cage”.

There’s also a second song, an outro SE, called “Angels (Deep Version)”, which is nearly identical to “Angels -18-” from the release “ETUDE -Platinum White-” which released just one day after this single.

This CD is very rare, as only 500 copies were pressed, who were only sold in Third Stage. In 2006, an extremely rare second press of this single got released, limited to only 40 copies, making it one of the rarest LAREINE releases!

For some reason, the cover, the OBI, and all the graphic design of this second press are identical to the original 2003 version; The only thing that changed is the CD-disc and media, which also includes a third song now, a live version of 白蝶 (Hakuchou).

So even though the second press was released in 2006, and the CD-disc says “2nd-Press 40 limitation”, the graphic design of the cover and OBI still talk about “Limited-500” and 2003, but this is incorrect.

My theory is that they just had leftover jackets, OBI’s and jewel cases from the 2003 pressing, and decided to reuse them for the second press instead of throwing them away. They didn’t bother making a new cover and redoing the graphic design.
