General Information:

“薔薇は美しく散る” (Bara wa utsukushiku chiru) is a cover of the opening song from the popular 1972 manga/anime series “The Rose of Versailles” (“Lady Oscar” in the West), illustrated by 池田代子 (Ryoko Ikeda). This series had a big influence on KAMIJO when he was younger.

The art of this single contains manga-style drawings of the members of LAREINE, actually drawn by 池田代子 (Ryoko Ikeda) herself, who illustrated the original manga!!!

This cover song was actually released two years earlier, on the LILLIE CHARLOTTE mini-album from 1998. But this new version released on this single contains soprano backing vocals by 池田代子 (Ryoko Ikeda). So she did both drawings AND backing vocals on this single.

This single combines the “薔薇は美しく散る” (Bara wa utsukushiku chiru) cover with another, original song: “あの人の愛した人なら” (Ano hito no aishita hito nara); A composition of KAMIJO that was also put on the “フィエル”テの海と共に消ゆ～THE LAST OF ROMANCE～” album, which released a week later.

Just like that album, and the singles before, this single sold well enough to reach the Oricon Style Weekly Singles Chart, where it reached a top position of 40.
